March 22, 2020
Hello Piazza Dance Company families,
We hope all of you are well! We’re reaching out, as promised, to update you on our status and to let you know our plan for our students as we move forward during this uncertain time. It is our sincere belief that keeping our students dancing and focused on their weekly lessons, will be the most beneficial for their bodies and their minds. Our PDC staff is well, and although we haven’t seen all of you since a week ago, our teachers have been working hard videotaping lessons and creating virtual classes for your students, to make up for the time we’re apart.
In the week ahead, Monday, March 23rd thru Sunday, March 29th, although our physical school must remain closed, students will be able to access pre-recorded video content from their teachers via our Band app. platform. Tomorrow you will receive an e-mail explaining how to access these very important videos. In the videos, your child’s teacher will share technical information and important choreography review, just as she or he would normally do in class.
Should the shut-down continue next week, beginning Monday, March 30th, PDC will begin live-streaming lessons via the app., Zoom. The Zoom app. Is a wonderful choice for dance class as it is interactive. The teacher and student can see, hear and speak with each other! You will receive detailed information toward the end of the week on our Zoom virtual dance classes.
We hope and we believe this pause in our regular routine will be short. We fully intend to finish out our season and we are moving full steam ahead with our year-end performances in mind.
Finally, we want to say, we wouldn’t be here if not for you. We’re a small, family business of 39 years with a loyal, talented and hard-working staff. We are doing everything we can think of to keep them working and to continue supplying you, our families, with great classes and training. But we need your help, with transitioning your student to our online platform, with continued tuition payments, and with your feedback as to how this new, temporary plan is working for your family. We know many of you will have questions and we invite you to e-mail us at information@piazzadanceco.com. We thank-you, we appreciate you, and we look forward to when we can all be together again.
Thank-you,
Gina Piazza, Marilynn Piazza-Esper and the staff of the Piazza Dance Company
