Cheryll Custer-Klein

Cheryll Custer Klein is certified instructor, award winning choreographer, master class instructor and sought after competition adjudicator.   She began teaching at a young age in 1999, realizing it was her passion in life.  She is an accomplished teacher in lyrical, contemporary, ballet, jazz, acrobatics, stretching and strengthening technique.  She is an active member in Dance Masters of Michigan, currently servicing as 1st Vice President and Faculty Chair; Dance Masters of America (DMA), Cecchetti Council of America (CCA) and its Eastern Michigan Committee.  As an instructor, she has continued her own education through the annual Dance Teachers Summit, DMA’s Teacher Training School, the CCA International Teachers Seminar and the Cecchetti Diploma Intensive, where she studied under Diane Van School of the Royal Ballet of London (White Lodge).  

Cheryll’s students have won numerous of awards with her choreography, including Applause Talent’s Apogee Award, FDC’s People’s Choice, VIP’s Top Ten List & Choreographer’s Walk of Fame, Hall of Fame’s Inductee, and KARtv’s Best Performance National Winner.  Her students have captured many titles, including but not limited to Miss Dance of Michigan, Miss Dance of America – 1st Runner Up, Jr Mr. Dance of Michigan, Teen Mr. Dance of Michigan, Distinguished Young Woman of America – Talent Winner (formerly America’s Junior Miss), Distinguished Young Woman of Plymouth-Canton and Miss Wayne County (Miss Michigan pageant Top 10, for Miss America).  Many of her students have pursued dance beyond their studio life, as instructors, in collegiate programs & dance teams, and in professional companies.

Cheryll believes and has proven that any dedicated student who wants to succeed, will.  Through her rigorous technique training and relentless encouragement, she cultivates the will to persevere.  Her choreography is the combination of herself along with the identity of her dancers.  She strives to make each piece unique, expressing the strengths of the dancers and challenging them to gain courage and conquer their weaknesses.  Much of her past work can be viewed on her website www.cheryllcusterklein.com.

Additionally, Cheryll holds a B.A. from the University of Michigan and a B.S. from Eastern Michigan University, graduating Magna Cum Laude.  She also enjoys spending quality time with her son, Landon and husband, Fred.
